DENVER- The Huerfano World Journal brought home the goods again, winning two awards at the Colorado Press Association’s 2011 award ceremony.
The first award was for a humorous column written by Carol Dunn. We are reprinting the piece in all its glory on page 16, but be forwarned, it is not for the weak of stomach.
The second award was best series of articles, which our staff collaborated on, titled, Keeping our Children Safe, which ran over a period of weeks, and described challenges and successes our children face, from bullying and abuse to teenage pregnancy. The writers involved were William Beverly, William Knowles, Edie Flanagin and Susan Simons.
This is the second year in a row for awards winning for Beverly and Dunn, who won best agricultural story in 2010 for their work on news series concerning Bovine TB in the county.
