WALSENBURG — The Walsenburg ambulance building was the site of an all-day first aid and cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) class on Friday, February 23. Fifteen people attended the class, sponsored by Huerfano Community Bible Church. Led by Cindy Gutierrez, Director of Emergency Services for Spanish Peaks Ambulance, the class covered a broad spectrum of first aid treatments ranging from small problems like insect bites and minor burns to more serious injuries like broken bones and choking. Special mannequin torsos, both adult and child-size, were used for hands-on training of CPR. At the conclusion of the class, the attendees were tested on their CPR skills and will receive certification cards for their successful completion of the course.
