WALSENBURG- The Huerfano County Branch Bank in Walsenburg cordially invites all area residents and guests to join them for their 15th Annual Open House Reception and 2009 Calendar Distribution. The event is planned for Wed. Dec. 3, from 9 am to 3 pm at 135 W. 6th in Walsenburg.
As in previous years, the Collector’s Series Calendar is distributed as a gift to the community on a first come, first served basis, while supplies last. All area residents and guests are encouraged to attend the festivities and receive a complimentary calendar.
The 2009 historic calendar entitled, “Greetings! Wish You Were Here,” takes its theme from a collection of the area’s vintage postcards. The official name for collecting postcards is deltiology, and is thought to be the third largest collectible hobby in the world after coins and stamp collection. Throughout the 2009 calendar, you’ll find many vintage and a few contemporary postcards of numerous types and styles, which include the communities of Trinidad, Walsenburg, Aguilar and Raton.
Pat Romero with the Apishapa Valley Historical Society will be signing calendars and discussing our rich, enduring heritage. As always, the 2009 calendar will be distributed as a gift to the community and all area residents are encouraged to attend the festivities.
As in past years, the First National Bank in Trinidad and the First National Loan Production Office in Raton, New Mexico, will hold their own separate open houses that day. Mark your calendar and plan to attend the festivities.
