WALSENBURG- The Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center Board of Directors met last Wednesday, where the 2009 budget for the consolidated district was presented. After taking a financial beating over the past year, newly appointed President Todd Oberheu had to ask the hospital’s holding company for a million dollars to be pulled out of reserves. The Board agreed to the amount. “We’ve had a lot of capital expenditures this past year,” Oberheu commented afterwards. “We invested in a lot of equipment.”
The budget saw a net increase in unrestricted funds of $89,423, which is made up from district revenues of $36,463, nursing home revenues of $478,728 and a loss by the hospital of $824,433. The difference is referred to as eliminations of $398,666.
In other news, the hospital has signed on a new physician- Dr. Lynne Johnson, who is a family practitioner from Texas. She will be on staff by March.
Lastly, SPRHC will be holding a “Heart Healthy Day” at the facility on Feb 11 from 8 am to 2 pm.
