Grand opening of waste transfer station

by Larry Patrick

WALSENBURG-The grand opening of the waste transfer station today and Saturday is offering half off on all fees at the Walsenburg site. The Huerfano County Commissioners decided to offer the half off prices to hopefully spur use of the brand new facility. It has been open for several weeks but the general public has not responded as expected. The County, City of Walsenburg and LaVeta worked on the project to provide a location to take appliances, tires, electronic parts and other debris that residents have had to take to Pueblo. Many have dumped their trash in county arroyos, littering the landscape and trashing the looks of the area. The facility is located across from the prison at 701 Industrial Road. If you are doing spring cleaning and trying to clean out the garage, yard and home, you can save a lot of money today and Saturday from 9-4 during the grand opening festivities.
