WALSENBURG — A 62-year old Grand Junction, Colo. man was issued a summons in relation to a fatal traffic accident April 1 that took the life of 60-year old Randall Dressler of Gardner.
CSP Trooper Art Gumke told the HWJ Monday that Richard Garrett was issued a summons charging him with careless driving causing death the day the accident happened.
Garrett was not booked into jail and did not have to post bond on the charge.
Garrett will be in court in Huerfano County for advisement of the charges against him at 9 am Friday, April 27.
The accident occurred at approximately 2 pm Sunday, April 1 on northbound CO Hwy. 69 about one mile south of Gardner.
Dressler was driving a 1992 Toyota pick up and was travelling north with Garrett behind him driving a 2001 Dodge Ram pick up and pulling a Fleetwood camping trailer. When Dressler slowed to make a left hand turn into his driveway, Garrett allegedly tried to pass him on the left hand side and the vehicles collided.
Dressler was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Garrett did not suffer any serious injuries according to the Colorado State Patrol press release.
