Former La Vetan killed in car crash

HUERFANO- Two men were killed at approximately 6:20 am on Sunday, Aug. 15 when they were ejected from their pickup after they crashed on Highway 160, at mile marker 288, about 12 miles west of Walsenburg.

Jared Erickson, 27 who grew up in  La Veta but was living in Pueblo, and Samuel Ingo, 22, of Pueblo West, were both pronounced dead at the scene by Huerfano County Deputy Coroner Norma Mauer.  Neither man was wearing a seat belt.  The impact from the crash tore three of the wheels off the car.

The two men were driving eastbound when the driver, (unknown at this time who was driving) swerved across the left side of the highway, then overcorrected to the right, skidding off the road and through a fence and into a field.
