HUERFANO- Things heated up in Huerfano County on Wednesday evening, Feb. 6 when an off-duty firefighter called dispatch to report a fiery glow on the horizon, but it kept moving around. According to County Commissioner Roger Cain, sheriff’s officers dispatched to follow up on the report saw a “low altitude fireball” moving through the sky for several minutes. All three county fire departments were put on standby. Sheriff Bruce Newman said in the end the light was from field lights over in the Pinon Canyon Maneuver Complex in Las Animas County.
