LA VETA- At its May 12 meeting, the La Veta Fire Protection District Board decided to begin charging $20 for burn permits within the District effective immediately. The fees will cover fuel and time required to inspect each permit location, obtain a release of liability, and complete a checklist to ensure that the burn will be done properly when conditions for burning are favorable. Burning is typically not allowed within Town limits.
The Board also reviewed the floorplan and elevations by T-Bone Construction for the proposed new fire station. With a few minor changes to the floorplan, the plans are being sent back to T-Bone, which will provide cost estimates for standard construction and also an environmentally “green” option.
