TRINIDAD— A magnitude 3.9 earthquake, initially believed to be 4.2 on the richter scale, rattled Las Animas county on Wednesday night at 11:14 pm, August 19. The epicenter of the quake was located 23 miles west of Trinidad, and registered 2.8 kilometers horizontally and 2.8 kilometers verically. It lasted for 95 seconds. Another 2.8 quake struck Wednesday afternoon just after 4 pm, 22 miles west of Trinidad. So far in 2015, the U.S. Geological Survey recorded 20 earthquakes in the Trinidad area. None of them were big.
