Huerfano County Christmas
by Carol Dunn
Sing to the tune of “The Twelve Days of Christmas”
On the twelfth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me . . .
Twelve million adobe bugs;
Eleven trips to Pueblo;
Ten deer eating my flowers;
Nine geese flying in circles;
Eight months of wind;
Seven coyotes howling;
Six-foot-tall snowdrifts;
Five cell-phone calls dropped;
Four degrees below zero;
Three broken water lines;
Two of the neighbor’s horses;
And a flicker in a box elder tree.
