LA VETA- The La Veta Public Library is excited to announce that John Steinbeck’s “The Grapes of Wrath” has been chosen for the 2009 Two Peaks, One Book community reading program. The Two Peaks, One Book program seeks to create a community of readers by bringing people together around a great work of literature.

This year’s program will include two book discussions, screening of the classic film starring Henry Fonda, and three presentations focusing on issues highlighted by the book.

Program organizer Tom Doerk encourages Huerfano County residents to join this community of readers, adding that he “thoroughly enjoyed rereading ‘The Grapes of Wrath’ because it is so masterful: it is extremely well written, the characters are well developed, and the history of the era is interesting and relevant today.”

The first program will be held Thursday, February 26, at 7pm. Call the library at 742-3572 for more information.
