County approves supplemental budget

Staff Reports

WALSENBURG— The Board of County Commissioners, in the last scheduled regular meeting for 2010, approved a supplemental 2010 budget allowing them to adjust this year’s expenditures in several funds.

Resetting expenditures in the Road and Bridge fund moved the budget upward over $12,000.  Other figures also adjusted up were the retirement fund by another $9,800, the PILT by $32,000 and the correction facility by around $29,700.  The adjustments are a normal part of end of the year budgeting.

The Commissioners also approved the certification of the levy and revenues the county will use in its 2011 budget for the operation and function of the county government.

Jay Jacobson, representing Purgatory Properties, LLC, received the bid for the purchase of a lot the county had put up for sale.  The assessed valuation on the property was $343.  The winning bid was for $1,184 for the acre sized lot.

Building permit fees will be going up for 2011.  The commissioners approved the increase on a 3-0 vote.  Fees on a residential foundation will increase from $75 to around $100 next year.  The last time building permit fees were adjusted was in 1998.

Custer County hired a new extension agent. Robyn Young will start her job in January. Young and Dean Oatman will serve three counties; Huerfano, Las Animas and Custer.
