County ’09 budget looks promising

by Larry Patrick

WALSENBURG-  A preliminary budget was provided to the Huerfano County Commissioners from Administrator, John Galusha on Wednesday. The county levy should stay the same. The overall budget should see an increase in revenue.  The road & bridge fund will see a decrease.

The good news is that the road and bridge shortfall this year has finally evened out.  Other  news is that employees should see a         one & one-half percent cost of living increase and another one-time performance bonus of 1 1/2% for those that qualify.

Commissioner, Scott King said the county was able to hold the line, increase the fund balance and give a slight raise to employees. The Commissioners thanked elected officials and employees for their assistance in holding the line on expenses. The budget will be finalized later.
