Cordova loses on OT

DENVER 7:49 p.m.- Walsenburg′s Waylon Cordova lost his bid to become the 2A champion when he lost to Alex Pena in overtime.  It was one of the most defensive and strategic battles in the tournament as both gladiators failed to score in regulation.  OT is a one minute round and after Pena scored an escape for the point to take a lead, Cordova again gained a hold which resulted in another escape +1.  After that,  Pena scored a take down for two which is how it ended.  For more on this classic match, and Waylon′s path to the championship. read this Thursday′s Journal.
