Notice is hereby given that; Huerfano County is accepting applications for a Mitigation and Planning Specialist in the Emergency Services Department. This is a full-time position; the position is benefit eligible with a salary of $50,000 – $55,000 non-exempt position.  The Mitigation and Planning Specialist is responsible for developing and managing all hazard mitigation projects and facilitating the growth of planning, mitigation and suppression capabilities. The Mitigation and Planning Specialist is also responsible for assisting with preparation of historical data, essential plan creation and/or updates, grant preparation and management, and assisting with the operation of the Emergency Operation Center. The Mitigation and Planning Specialist attends frequent training and meetings as well as monitoring Local, State and Federal regulations to ensure plan and policy compliance. Experience working with the public and communications in an office setting. 2 years experience in emergency management field, or as an emergency responder, wildland fire-fighting, or in emergency planning is preferred. CPR and First Responder’s Certification is also preferred. A current  Colorado Driver’s License is required.  The ability to explain sensitive information to County employees, cooperating agencies (fire, EMS, search and rescue and law enforcement personnel and citizens is required. Position Summary: Under general direction of the DWI Coordinator, the prevention specialist will organize and particpate in DWI public relations.
Minimum Qualifications: • A High School Diploma or GED. Some college is preferred.
• Must have a Valid Driver’s license and be willing to travel.  Must have transportation for travel.
• Experience with community-based organizations.
• Experience working with youth and/or families.
• Must have computer-based skills.
Working conditions:
Work is performed in field setting in Colfax Counties.  Travel WILL be required.  Work schedule may include irregular hours.  Work may require frequent bending, reaching and lifting, pushing and carrying items (books, reports, etc.) up to (30) pounds.  Employee will have to set up prevention material at events (such as tables and chairs, etc.)  Extended periods of sitting per day, may be up to four hours.  Occasional use of stairs.

JOB TITLE: Road and Bridge Maintenance Operator – Raton, NM. Pay Status: Non-Exempt. Reports to Road Department Superintendent. Salary: DOE Open until filled. Position Summary:  Under supervision of the County Road Superintendent, performs maintenance on County roads and bridges and other County property and other duties as assigned. Work involves performing semi-skilled tasks to maintain roads and bridges, culverts and cattle guards. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• A high school diploma or GED.
• Must have Class A CDL.
• Must have three (3) years of road experience or relevant.
• Must pass road equipment test at time of interview.
• Knowledge of the methods, materials and road equipment operation, as well as care and basic maintenance.
Working conditions:
• Performs work indoors (25%) and outdoors (75%).  Most cabs are enclosed and may or may not have heating and air conditions units.
• Temperature extremes depend upon weather conditions.  Employee may be exposed to extreme cold and hot temperatures and humid conditions.
• Employee may be exposed to noise intermittently while operating equipment.
• Employee may be exposed to intermittent body vibration while operating equipment.
• Employee is exposed to normal hazards associated with equipment operation and driving perhaps in severe weather conditions and on hazardous terrain.
• Employee may be exposed to exhaust fumes, petroleum product odors, dusts and mists.
• Performs work on even or uneven surface which could be on concrete, asphalt, or natural ground.  Employee may be required to work inclined surfaces or ramps and may use a ladder. The working surface may be dry, wet or greasy.
• Employee may work alone with or without direction, may work with one or two people, or with a large group of people.
• Work is conducted primarily during daylight hours.
