COLFAX COUNTY Job Posting. Job title- Personal Property/ Mobile Home Clerk. Pay Status- Non- Exempt.  Reports to Colfax County Assessor/Chief Deputy Assessor. Salary-$13.50 hourly. Date Close-Agusut 15, 2022.
Position Summary: Every year by law the Assessor’s office is required to send the commercial property owners a rendition form so they can report what equipment they are using for their business. This form asks for a detailed list of all equipment, year of purchase, and what they paid for the equipment. There is depreciation table used after receiving this information to calculate the taxable value. A penalty will be applied to those who refuse to make this report. If we do not get a detailed form, we will determine a value with the best comparable information that is available.
Personal Property Clerk:
• Responsible for sending letter of itemized listings of fixtures and equipment to all businesses in Colfax County yearly – January through April. If there is no response, a second request is sent and followed up on. When forms are returned to the office, the new businesses are assigned an account number and entered in the computer. The older accounts are updated, and closed business accounts are deactivated. As businesses respond/render, the render fee is removed. The fee remains if the business does not render.
• Responsible for discovering and researching new business in the county.
Mobile Home Clerk:
• Answer questions in person and by telephone concerning property descriptions.
• Assist banks, title companies, realtors with property questions and requests, valuation, personal property issues.
