Celebrating making it to State

by Lillian Eva Liske

SPRINGER — On Wednesday March 7th 2018 at around 10 am, the community of Springer came out to send off the Springer Red Devils Basketball Team on their way to the State Tournament in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The parade started at Springer High School and weaved through the community of Springer, passing by the Colfax General Nursing home on Prospect, then making its way toward the elementary school so that the smaller kids could see the basketball parade and send their best wishes to the team. The community, including employees of the local clinic, El Centro, Springer Electric, and the gas stations came out of their businesses to say good luck to these talented kids. The Red Devils played reserve and advanced into the semi-finals against the Maxwell Bears. Unfortunately Springer didn’t prevail despite their efforts. The community of Springer supports the students and athletics here in Springer, and is proud of these players and their families for representing the community.
