Cars rifled through in Walsenburg

WALSENBURG —On Friday, Nov. 9, the police department began to receive a number of calls about vehicles that had been illegally entered overnight in various parts of the city.
In each case, the vehicle had been left unlocked so no damage was done to the vehicles themselves by forced entry.
The suspect or suspects went through glove compartments, CD storage units, trunks and other areas of the vehicles, and then tossed what they didn’t want onto the ground. In most cases, vehicle owners did not find anything missing, but a set of white gold wedding rings in a black box were reported stolen from one vehicle, possibly when it was parked at the Huerfano County Community Center. Two of the rings had several small diamonds and two others have three large diamonds surrounded by eight smaller ones (one small diamond was missing from the setting).
The police department reminds residents to be sure to close and lock windows and doors anytime you leave your vehicle unattended.
If you see any suspicious activity call the WPD at 738-1044.
