Candidate forum on Oct. 19

WALSENBURG- The Huerfano World Journal will be hosting a candidate forum at the Spanish Peaks library on Friday, October 19, starting at 6pm.
In addition to the six candidates running for the two open county commissioner seats, the candidates running for the open seat on the Walsenburg City Council will be available to answer questions.
Any additional ballot questions will also be discussed.
People wishing to ask a question will need to write it down on a provided 3×5 card for the moderator to ask; and not all questions will be read (as there will probably be multiple questions on the same topic, or lack of time.)
The forum will be run on a tight timetable, beginning with opening remarks from the forum moderator, and then moving on to the water conservancy district question, then the city ballot issues, city candidates, and finally the commissioner candidates.
Each candidate will have two minutes to give an opening statement, and then two minutes to answer questions. Yes, we will be keeping time.
If time allows, each candidate will be allowed a closing statement.
And finally, this is a local forum, not a national or even a state forum. We don’t give a hoot whether you’re voting for Obama or Romney, and ask that you not inject that contest into this meeting. Anyone who is disruptive will be asked to leave. Remember, this is a forum, not a debate, and there will be no winners or losers; just knowledge gained.
No political signs or pamplets will be allowed in.
