Where Church Meets Life

LA VETA- You can get a religious experience anywhere. At TheJOURNEYChurch, they focus on relationships – a relationship with God and with each other.  Many people have had a bad church experience or they have a poor perception of church. TheJOURNEY is not your typical church.  It′s about people just like you reaching out and connecting with God.  You don′t have to dress up.  You don′t have to be any particular age.  They couldn′t care less who you voted for in the last election.  TheJOURNEY focuses on a simple message of loving God and loving others.  Each week includes relevant teaching, modern music, drama, video, or someone′s personal story.  You can have fun, connect with God, and experience something life-changing!  There will be an informational meeting at the La Veta Community Center, Sun. Oct. 26 @ 6:30 pm.  Questions?  Call 742-6688 or email: thejourneychurch@live.com.

New Hope For Beating Cancer in Huerfano County

HUERFANO- Come celebrate breast cancer awareness month.  When you’re in the know, you’re in control.  The Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center’s Outreach Clinic at 129 Kansas would like to invite you to a free evening program with entertainment and refreshments on Oct. 30, 2008, from 6:30 to 7:30 pm.  This program will be at the La Plaza Inn Bistro located at 118 W. Sixth St. in Walsenburg.  A talented local musician will present the story of her cancer journey with words and music.  The program is dedicated to discussion and sharing of how 96% of women who are screened learn they’re cancer free, and 4% learn how they can be helped to become cancer free.   98% of women survive breast cancer when it’s found early through routine screening.  At the end of the program (and weather permitting), we will have a candle light memorial walk from La Plaza to the Courthouse in remembrance of those that have lost there courageous battle with a devastating disease.

As an “added value”  in “caring for the community”, before the program begins, attendees and the public-at-large will have the opportunity to get their Flu Shot, beginning at 5:30, also at the La Plaza Inn Bistro.  The cost for a Flu Shot is $15.

Huerfano County’s Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center (SPRHC) along with funding from the CO Dept. of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) are sponsors of this unique Women’s Wellness Connection program.
