Community Thanksgiving

WALSENBURG- The community Thanksgiving feast will be held on Nov. 27, from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm at the Huerfano County Community Center.  It′s all about Community and Fellowship.  For more info, or transportation needs please call Peggy @ 738-3251 or Shelley @ 738-3251.

Parade of Lights

WALSENBURG– The Parade of Lights will be Nov. 28, the day after Thanksgiving at 6 pm. 

Holiday Bazaar

WALSENBURG– The Huerfano County Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the 2nd Annual Holiday Bazaar on Nov. 28 and 29 at the Walsenburg Community Center. The bazaar is open on Friday from 9 am till 5 pm, and on Saturday from 9 am till 6 pm.  The bazaar is open to the public. If you would like to have a booth, please contact Nancy Lave at 738-2005 or Marianne Smithey at 738-2393.

Eagles Craft Sale

WALSENBURG- Eagles Auxiliary #1187 will be holding their annual craft sale at Eagle hall on Nov. 28, 2008.   Kitchen opens at 5 pm, and will be serving hamburgers, hot dogs, chili, etc.  Raffle and bake sale. Tables are $10 each.  For table reservations call Josephine at 738-2713, or Bernice at 738-1197.

Hospice Tree Lighting

WALSENBURG- Sangre de Cristo Hospice will have its annual Reflections Celebration and tree lighting on Tues. Dec. 2, at the Community Center in Walsenburg. The celebration will start at 5:30 pm.  If you have a loved one, whose name you would like read, please be there a few minutes early, drop the name off at our office, 124 W 8th or call 738-2588.

County Chamber Christmas

WALSENBURG- The Huerfano Chamber of Commerce is holding its Christmas Party on Dec. 5, 2008.  It will be held at La Plaza Inn at 6 pm. Tickets for this event are available at the Chamber of Commerce office starting Nov. 20.  The tickets are $17 in advance or $20 at the door. A silent auction will be held after the dinner. Please bring a gift and join in the fun.

Lathrop Park’s Christmas  Bazaar

LATHROP- There will be a Christmas  Bazaar & Open House at Lathrop State Park Dec. 6 and 7 from 10 am to 3 pm.  It will feature local artists and crafts people, and you can enjoy hot drinks and refreshments while you browse.  This is also the Rocky Mountain Nature Association’s annual 15% off book and gift sale.  Everyone is welcome.

Holiday ART Feast

LA VETA- Don’t forget the a progressive dinner that takes you to three outstanding galleries in La Veta.   On Dec. 6 from 5:30 – 7:30, the Spanish Peaks Arts Council is sponsoring the “Holiday ART Feast”.  Tickets are limited and are $20 each. .  Tickets may be purchased at Pinon Hill Pottery,  the SPACe Gallery, and the La Veta Fine Art Gallery, as well as at Charlie’s Market and La Veta True Value.

     Proceeds raised by the dinner will go to the SPACe Building Expansion Fund.

 Tinsley Farewell Reminder

WALSENBURG-  On Sun.  Dec. 7, 2008, from 1:30 to 3:30 pm, Calvary Baptist Church will host an open house in honor of outgoing Pastor Alan Tinsley and his wife, Pam. The Tinsleys are leaving the Walsenburg community in order to move closer to family.  All who wish to say farewell and offer best wishes are invited to drop by the church  at 801 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Conservation Supervisors Meet

WALSENBURG- The Board of Supervisors of the Upper Huerfano Conservation District will meet at 5:30 pm on Thurs. Dec. 11 at 711 Walsen Avenue, Suite A, Walsenburg.  The meeting is open to the public.
