1st Cavalry Division Chapter and Association recognized
SOUTHERN COLORADO- The Southeastern Colorado Chapter of the 1st Cavalry Division Association was recognized on Jan. 1 by the Veterans History Project and the Library of Congress. A Certificate and Letter were presented to the Chapter.
Through the efforts of Chapter President Clifford Boxley, the 1st Cavalry Division Association became one of the " Founding Partners " in the Veterans History Project. The purpose of this project is to collect, preserve, and make accessible the personal accounts of American war veterans, so that future generations may hear directly from the veterans and better understand the realities of war.
It is a great honor for a small veterans group to be honored in this way. Our hope is to expand our collection efforts in 2010, so that the stories of our area war veterans can be preserved for future generations.
