Feb. 28th, 2009 Senator Bennet began efforts to find out more about the ′Piñon Canyon Issue′. He did a ′fly over′ of PCMS on an Army helicopter then met with landowners who told him they were still not for sale to the Army.  He then took time to drop by a Trinidad business for more information from more land owners, PCEOC and Not 1 More Acre!.

Ten persons presented at least as many different aspects of any considered expansion and the problems it causes.  Key evidence and supporting documents were presented to the senator and he seemed genuinely concerned when the plight of southeast Colorado was explained to him.
