WALSENBURG– A traveling archaeology exhibit from the Southeast Colorado Heritage Center in Pueblo will be shown at Spanish Peaks Library in Walsenburg, Fri. Feb. 20, at 10:30 am. The presenter will be Karen Clouse, local archaeology enthusiast. Everyone is invited.
Relay for Life Committee
WALSENBURG- The American Cancer Society Huerfano Relay Committee will host its Kickoff Event in Walsenburg on Sat. Feb. 21, 2009 at 1 pm in the Huerfano Community Center’s Community Meeting Room. Please join in for food, fun, and prizes, to learn more, and to sign up teams ($25 Kickoff Event special). This year’s event will be dedicated in memory of Dominic Andreatta and in honor of Juanita Cordova. Speakers at the event include Carrie Andreatta and Juanita Cordova, a cancer survivor. Please join in.

LA VETA- On Sat. Feb. 21, the singing group “Rejoice” will be performing at Mt. View Baptist Church in La Veta from 7-8:30 pm. The concert is free and there will be desert and coffee after this musical event. Call 742-6777 for more information.
Water Board meets Monday
WALSENBURG-The Board of the Huerfano County Water Conservancy District will meet at 6:00 pm on Monday, February 23, 2009 at City Hall, 525 S Albert Avenue, Walsenburg. It is open to the public.
Radon Meeting
COLORADO CITY- All Huerfano County citizens are invited to an informational radon meeting at the Colorado City Recreation Center, 5000 Cuerno Verde on Tues. Feb. 24 at 6:30 pm. People will get a free radon kit, be instructed on how to use it, and receive free test results. Sponsores are the Sangre de Cristo Volunteers for Change, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Citizens for Clean Air and PuebloCAREs. Tobacco Coalition
WALSENBURG- Debbie Shronce of the Huerfano County Tobacco Coalition congratulates Terri Blessman on her new position with Huerfano County Youth Services, and thanks her for graciously consenting to continue her work with the tobacco coalition to extend the tobacco free perimeter around Walsenburg’s schools. The next coalition meeting is Wed. Feb. 18 at the hospital board room from noon to 1 pm. New members are welcome.
