Art Bobian announces bid for second term as Commissioner

HUERFANO- Art Bobian, Chairman of the Huerfano County Board of Commissioners, announced that he will be seeking re-election for a second four-year term.  “The last three years have flown by,” he said.  “And while much has been accomplished, there is still much to be done.  I am especially proud of the fact that, during this economic downturn, this County is in a sound financial position.”  Bobian says that while other counties in the State are experiencing financial difficulties that have resulted in curtailed services and staff layoffs and/or furloughs, Huerfano County has maintained services and staff.  He attributed this to the Commissioners taking a proactive approach to managing costs and expenditures.

During the last three years, Bobian says, the County has seen improved communication, the construction of the Waste Transfer Station, adoption of a nationwide plan for prescription medication discounts, appointed a Regional Building Authority, assumed operation of the Emergency Dispatch Center along with implementing the Reverse 9-1-1 system, and provided summer job opportunities for County youth, among other accomplishments.

“I am appreciative of the citizens of Huerfano County who have given me the opportunity to serve,” said Bobian.  “If they will have me for another term, I will not misplace their trust.”
