Additional charges filed in Raton child abuse case

RATON — Additional charges have been filed in the exual assault, sexual exploitation case against James Haugh, 67, and Brandi Baird, 32, who were arrested recently.
New charges against both individuals include sexual exploitation of children, one count of production of child pornography, one count of possession of child pornography and one count of prostitution. Judge Emilio Chavez agreed with the state and put on a no bond detention on both defendants. Baird and Haugh are being held in VMDC.
Raton Police spent at least two days last week collecting and processing evidence in the case.
The defendants were arrested on initial charges of second degree sexual contact with a minor under the age of 18.  Other charges filed against the pair include one count of manufacturing visual medium of sexual exploitation of children and one count of child abuse.  Baird is also charged in the case with one count of incest, a 3rd degree felony.
The criminal complaint also noted Haugh is a registered sex offender and appears in the sex offender registry from a case adjudicated in April 1999.
