by Rachael Schneider

HUERFANO- Congratulations to Steven Garcia and Ariel Jameson who are the new 4-H Ambassadors.

Horse Entries for fair are due July 17th and can be turned in at the extension office at the Walsenburg Community Center.  July 27th is the cutoff date for member in good standings.

In upcoming 4-H events, there will be  decorating for a Senior Citizens dinner at the La Veta Community Center on July 24th beginning at 9 am, and there will be a Barn Cleanup on July 25th at 1:00 pm at the La Veta Fair grounds.  This will be the last cleanup before the county fair, so if you if you still have to fulfill your member in good standing here is a good opportunity.

COOL forms must be turned in if you plan to show your animals.  Fair showing fees must be paid if you wish to show your 4-H project animal at the fair.  The fee is $10 and will cover all of your animals and exhibits, including anything that you enter in open class.

Anyone who is not in 4-H, but wishes to enter something in the open class at the county fair will have to pay a $5 showing fee.

This year’s county fair events kick off with the style revue on July 31st at 1pm at the  4-H barn.

Then, fair weigh in starts Wednesday, Aug 5 from 8 am to 11 am and 4 pm to 6 pm.  At 6:30 that night there will be the Opening Night BBQ.

Remember, every 4-H family needs to bring a dessert for the buyers dinner on Sunday Aug. 9.

There will be a record book meeting on Monday, July 27 at 6:30 pm.

Finally, the next meeting will be on Monday Aug  3.
